You probably already know Benalmádena Costa. A tourist hotspot with beaches, bars, restaurants, the Puerto Marina and the golf courses Benalmádena Golf and Golf Torrequebrada. Benalmádena Pueblo, on the other hand, is the opposite of that. The district is located on a quiet mountain top and is a typical Spanish white village. Arroyo de la Miel is a less well-known residential area in Benalmádena, where most of the locals live. But this does not make it any less beautiful to visit or even live there.
During a visit to the city you will certainly notice the influences of the Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs. For example, there is an old salt factory in Benalroma. But there are also old churches and castles to explore in Benalmádena. There are parks too, such as the man-made park Parque de la Paloma, the Jardines del Muro and the Mariposario butterfly park. But although there is plenty of nature and culture, you will mainly find other activities in this town. A real coastal town with bars, restaurants, entertainment shows, festivals, an aquarium, cable car, casino and even an amusement park!
In terms of practical things, Benalmádena knows how to handle it as well. The town is ideally situated between Carihuela (Torremolinos) and Fuengirola. There are excellent train connections to, for example, Fuengirola and Málaga. Of course, there are also plenty of buses and the airport is only 15 minutes away. Schools can be found in and around the Benalmádena area, privately and publicly. And with about 68,000 inhabitants, the town is very quiet compared to other cities. But it is certainly not small: Benalmádena has an area of almost 30 km², so more than enough to enjoy.
